Qatar Airways, the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar has announced that it will launch direct flights to New York.
Doha-based airline’s chief executive officer, Akbar Al Baker broadcasted in Athens as it celebrated the eight-year presence in Greece and to commemorate the airliner’s strong operations in Greece.
He further commented, “The route from Athens to Doha has become the leading intercontinental destination in a relatively high number of passengers at Athens International Airport that has exceeded for the first time. The flights with Qatar Airways will take to the air from the Greek capital of Athens and they are expected to operate from the middle of 2013.
Athens is a prime point on the airline’s 31-strong European route network that was introduced way back in 2004 with six flights weekly initially. And, it enhanced its capacity to double-daily three years ago.
