Emirates, one of the leading airlines in the world will operate flights to Mauritius to mark the 45th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Mauritius two months from now.
The Dubai-based airline will showcase one of its fleet of 31 Airbus A380s during the Independence Day celebrations. It will be the first commercial A380 flight that will touchdown on the island.
Emirates, which is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, has been taking to the air to Mauritius since 2002 and generally operates the route with a Boeing 777 airliner. In December last year, the airline enhanced its frequency from 12 flights a week to double daily service to the island in response to the ever-growing demand for Mauritius.
Ahmed Khoory, Senior Vice President Commercial, West Asia and Indian Ocean, commented, “Emirates strongly lays an emphasis on connecting people and on special day for the Mauritians, it is extremely pleasing to be able to attract more and more people to the island.”
