This coming summer, Malaysia and Indonesia will get the benefits from a strong presence of German national carrier, Lufthansa Airlines due to launch of new route between Frankfurt and Jakarta via Kuala Lumpur. From 30th March 2014, Lufthansa will launch a new route, decoupling Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur and going back to Jakarta. While Bangkok will now be served by an exclusive non-stop flight in an Airbus A340-600 on daily basis out of Frankfurt, five weekly nonstop flights will serve Frankfurt-Kuala Lumpur route from March and being extended to Jakarta as well.
Lufthansa will also serve Kuala Lumpur- Jakarta with five times on an Airbus A340-600, offering a three-class configuration with eight seats in first class, 48 in business and 270 seats in Economy. But the airline had terminated its flights to Ho Chi Minh City which is served through Bangkok.
Lufthansa- Jakarta service is coming at a time of increasing interest from European Airline to serve Indonesia, which is considered as one of the fastest growing markets in the world of air services. In summers Air France is due to open daily flights via Singapore from Paris while Garuda Indonesia is also planning a three times weekly flights to London Gatwick. There are also rumors mentioning the possible return of British Airways to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia via Singapore or eventually Kuala Lumpur. Until today KLM is the only European carrier serving Jakarta, with a stop-over in Kuala Lumpur.
