U.S. Airlines, the sixth largest airline in the United States has restarted flights to New York at all airports and towards full schedules. United Continental Holdings Inc., American Airlines and US Airways Group Inc. have restored its normal operations.
More than 2,240 flights were cancelled because of heavy snow and bursting winds. These flights were in addition to about 20,000 flights that were disrupted due to Hurricane Sandy.
Michael Derchin, who’s an analyst at CRT Capital Group in Stamford, Connecticut, commented, “It’s a nor’easter; it’s not a hurricane, but it’s definitely quite windy.”
Delta, US Airways, Southwest Airlines Co. and JetBlue Airways joined in grounding flights.
United and American broadcasted pullbacks on 6th November, 2012, which gave them a head start in the industry’s practice of shutting down planes away from harsh weather.
