Hana in Japanese means flower and Mi comes from the verb to watch and by putting together its means “cherry blossom watching”. It is an annual Japanese custom of enjoying the blooming foliage after the winter weather subsides.
Cherry blossom festivals take place all over the country. Most of them held between March to May and in some other regions in the months of January, February and June based on their location. So book flights to Japan and take part in this grand fiesta and enjoy the sheer beauty of nature. A typical Hanami usually consist of holding an outdoor party under cherry blossom trees during day and night. Food, beer and sake are brought to picnic and visitors bask in cherry blossoms that fall from the trees.
While cherry blossom bloom throughout the country, but there are few cities which are famous for Hanami that include The castle town of Hirosaki ,Yoshino-Yama, a mountain with over 30,000 cherry tress considered to be the best viewing spot in all over Japan. Visitors can also make a trip to the Japan Mint in Osaka where in the month of April, grounds are open for public for one week to enjoy viewing over 100 varieties that provides visitors to distinguish between the various sizes and shapes of flowers.
