With every passing year , the Fiesa International Sand Sculpture Festival that takes place in Pêra, Algarve, Portugal touch new heights by bringing together the most talented sculptures from all corners of the world to build a city-like installation. Each new edition is dedicated to a different theme and a group of talented sculptors give shape to thirty-five thousand tons of sand to build in an area of fifteen thousand square meters. Carved in the sand you’ll find the sculptors ranging from Hollywood discoveries, living world, animal kingdom and many more.
Open to the public every day between 25th May 2016 to 25th October and into its 11th edition, the festival is unique in the Iberian Peninsula and is considered the largest sand sculpture festival in the world by size of its sculptures and the area they occupy. It can be visited day and night when the sculptors are illuminated by lights, providing an even different perspective of figures.
