Following a high level meeting between two Heads of state, Zambia and Turkey have signed an air aviation agreement which provides introduction of new route between Istanbul and Zambian capital Lusaka. The direct flights to Lusaka are expected to start in the first quarter of this year.
Zambia’s Ambassador to Turkey Miriam Mulenga and Turkish Airlines chairperson Hamdi Topcu finalized the deal for commencement of direct flights between the two countries in Istanbul. Speaking on this occasion Mr Topcu said that Turkey considered Zambia as an important destination deserved to be serviced by a direct flight. In the words of Ambassador Mulenga, the introduction of direct flights to Lusaka from Istanbul will enhance the trade between Zambia and Turkey. The direct flights will also boost tourism in Zambia and raise arrivals to contribute more to the GDP from the tourism sector.
