Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight to Cambodia touched down its capital Phnom Penh, which further extends the airlines reach in Asia Pacific. With this launch of daily fights, Qatar Airways becomes the only Middle Eastern airline flying to south-east Asian destination and Cambodia becomes 125th destination of airlines.
Guests gathered at Phnom Penh International airport to celebrate the new air link, connecting Cambodia with scores of destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, North America and South America. Flight QR602 arrived to a traditional water salute followed by a grand airport ceremony featuring colorful Cambodian dancers.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker was joined on the inaugural flight by His Excellency Long Kem, Ambassador, Royal Embassy of Cambodia to the State of Kuwait. According to Al Baker, the latest route by award-winning airline opened up a great new market for business and leisure travellers from around the world, while at the same time opening up air access from Cambodia to various worldwide destinations. He further added that Cambodian travellers will now enjoy Qatar Airways award-wining hospitality which will surely impress them.
