Qatar Airways, the flag carrier of Qatar has broadcasted that it would resume flights to Yangon after a gap of four years with the launch of scheduled services to Myanmar’s largest city.
The city of Yangon has become the airline’s 10th gateway in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) following on its operations with Qatar Airways’ flight services from cities such as Bangkok, Bali, Jakarta, Hanoi, Singapore, Manila, etc.
With the recommencement of flight services, it will provide greater economic and travel opportunities for the people of Myanmar.
Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker commented, “We stay committed to acquire an access to those destinations that are underserved by international airlines and have a huge market potential. As we continue to witness evolution and receive more aircraft, we will catch hold of other opportunities to extend our network and broaden our presence across the globe.”
He further commented, “It marks a very special occasion for all of us as we make our arrival into a city and country that have enormous potential and growth. Yangon has the potential to lead both as a competitive tourism destination and centre for business in the ASEAN region.
