Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates has launched flights to Amsterdam in collaboration with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. The launch of the services is seen as beginning of second phase of Etihad-KLM relationship.
The flights will be operated daily with a two cabin Airbus A330-200 with a capacity of 262 passengers. The airbus offers 22 seats in Pearl Business Class and 240 seats in Coral Economy Class. The flights will carry KLM’s KL code.
The launch of services coincides with the addition of 12 new KLM destinations out of Schiphol Airport. These services will carry Etihad Airways EY code. KLM’s code KL has been added to a further six Etihad Airways destinations operating from Abu Dhabi.
“The launch of Etihad Airways flights to Amsterdam demonstrates the deepening of our relationship with KLM as we anticipate great demand for the KLM codeshare flights beyond Schiphol Airport” James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer has been quoted as saying.
“The partnership with KLM follows Etihad Airways strategy of working closely with partners around the world and using their existing networks to feed secondary cities, as well as other areas of benefit to customers like reciprocal lounge access and frequent flyer ‘earn and burn’,” he added further.
With addition to flights to Amsterdam, Etihad airways is now flying to 17 major European cities that includes Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London and Paris.
The launch of new services will provide better option to tourists flying on Abu Dhabi- Amsterdam route.
