Air Berlin, which is the second largest airline of Germany, is on the verge of continuing its expansion to the United States. The expansion will take place with effect from 23rd March 2013 when the airline would be operating direct flights to Chicago from the German capital.
Air Berlin would be the first company ever to provide a connection between Berlin and the amazing metropolis in the state of Illinois.
The airline will commence its operations on the new route of Berlin to Chicago at the end of March next year. With the beginning of summer schedule in May 2013, Air Berlin will boost the number of direct flights from 3 to 5 per week.
Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg’s CEO, Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz said, “The new connection to Illinois’ metropolis would send a strong signal for the future possibility of Berlin-Brandenburg as an aviation centre.”
He futher added, “I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to the airline, which is our home carrier, for the trust they have shown in us. Berlin is very well connected to the United States with flights to Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York.
