Etihad Airways grow its capacity this summer on its New York JFK -Abu Dhabi route. The Abu Dhabi- based carrier will continue to fly one daily round-trip flight from Abu Dhabi to New York, but switch to 328 -seat Boeing 777-300ER Jets on 1st June. The airline currently uses 240-seat Airbus A340-500 jets on the route.
According to Etihad Airways CEO James Hogan, the carrier’s decision to boost the capacity to New York is due to passenger demand and upgrading of routes where there is a need for more capacity. He further adds that the change to the Boeing 777 aircraft, the largest three-class aircraft, on New York route is a demonstration of commitment to expand the services in U.S. New York is the first point of entry into America and is continue to grow year-in-year, which further strengthen the relationship with American airlines.
The point- to- point premium traffic between the New York and Abu Dhabi is particularly strong, representing an increase in commercial and trade ties between the USA and UAE. The aircraft switch will allow Etihad to offer in -flight Wi-Fi on its New York- Abu Dhabi route. Mobile calls also are permitted though they incur a standard international roaming rate of guest’s mobile network providers.
