Qantas partner Emirates increases capacity on Dubai-Munich route to two Airbus A380 flights a day next year. From 30th March 2014, Emirates’ Dubai-Munich route will become an ‘all-A380’ service as one of the airline’s flagship superjumbos replaces a Boeing 777-300ER on daily flight EK51/52. The second daily A380 operations will double capacity with nearly 1,800 seats per week added to the route comprises 399 seats in Economy class, 76 fully flat-bed, mini-pods in Business Class and 14 First Class Private Suites.
In the words of Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates, This is a significant development for Emirates as Munich is a key airport for Germany as well as in Europe. Passengers demand has been steadily growing in this region and second A380 will add much needed seat capacity which is required to meet the demand growth and it will support the expansion of trade, tourism, and international investment in Germany.
The German market is one of the big winners in Qantas-Emirates alliance. The deal with Emirates delivered nine direct daily flights to Frankfurt (three times daily), Munich (twice daily), Düsseldorf (twice daily) and Hamburg (twice daily) from Dubai. Visitors can fly with Emirates all the way from Australia to Germany to minimize the stop-over time spent during stop-over at Dubai.
