Dubai’s Emirates Airlines plans to double the number of flights on its Dublin-Dubai route later this year to cater the growing demand for the service. The Gulf carrier Emirates currently runs a daily service between the two cities and deploys a B777-300ER on the route. The announcement came during the event to mark the second anniversary of Emirates’ flights to Dublin which was even attended by Irish Prime Minister End Kenny.
In the words of Emirates CEO Tim Clark, there is a growing demand for convenient air travel connections between Dublin and Dubai. The increase will be the second expansion of service since it was launched two years ago. The airline had carried 442,000 passengers on its daily Dublin flight from Dubai over the last two years and currently employs 442 Irish nationals.
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) also revealed that visitor numbers from Ireland to Dubai increased by 14 percent in 2013 when compared with 2012.
