Shrove Sunday marks the official start of event and the carnival reaches its climax on Mardi Gras, with the appearance of the legendary figure- Gille.
They wear wooden shoes along with black, yellow and red clothes, wax masks, hats decorated with feathers and little glasses with black flames. On the end of the ceremony, the Gilles march in a traditional parade according to the beats of hundreds of drums and throwing oranges at spectators. Thousands of jugglers, dancers and bands join the parade and the grand event terminates in the evening in the Grand Palace with colorful lights of the firework.
