British Midland Airways Limited or Bmi, a UK based regional airlines is stepping up by the introduction of twice-daily flights to Oslo from Aberdeen. The airline’s scheduled service, providing a direct access from European Oil and gas capital to Norwegian capital Oslo launched in October last year as a single daily flight, Sunday to Friday. From today, bmi regional now operates two flights a day Monday to Thursday along with a single daily flight continuing on Sundays and Fridays.
The service offered by the airline means business travellers can spend a day in either city and is also expected to boost inbound leisure traffic to the north-east of Scotland. In the words of Cathal O’Connell, chief executive of bmi regional, Aberdeen is now firmly established as an important hub. When the airline had launched service to Oslo from Aberdeen last year the authorities are committed to increase the frequency due to increase in demand and they are now delivering on that promise.
