Singapore Airlines, and its subsidiaries, are planning to add more flights to Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai Singapore government works out on allotment of seats to airlines heading for India. Currently, Singapore airlines and its subsidiaries are operating three flights a week to Delhi and two flights each from Hyderabad and Chennai every week. Singapore Airlines in combination with its subsidiaries like SilkAir and low-cost carrier affiliate Tiger Airways is utilising over 70 per cent of capacity between India and Singapore. These three airlines collectively provide around 29,000 seats to India every week.
With revision of bilateral air services agreement between Indian and Singapore, 2,160 seats have been increased. Indian carriers don’t need the revised bilateral because they were utilising less than 40 per cent of the prior allotment. Air India, Jet Airways, Air India Express and IndiGo collectively provide around 11,000 one way seats a week to Singapore.
With the increase in number of seats to these Indian destinations the trade and tourism ties between these two destinations will get a boost.
