Qatar Airways will be operating a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Singapore-Doha sector. The route will start from 31st March 2014, alongside its existing fleet of Boeing 777s. It is the airline’s first route in Southeast Asia to be using the 787 aircraft. To celebrate the launch Qatar Airways’ 787 aircraft will be on the static display at Singapore Airshow until 14th February.
According to Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, the introduction of 787 aircraft to Singapore-Doha sector is an important and strategic route for Qatar Airways and it will redefine the in-flight experience for Singapore based passengers who travel to Doha and onwards to key destinations in Western Europe and Americas.
The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner features improved cabin pressure, more spacious seating and an award winning iTouch touch control unit offering more than 1,000 entertainment options. The Business Class has 22 seats which can be converted into a fully flat horizontal bed and the Economy Class has a seating capacity of 232 travellers in a 3-3-3 layout.
Qatar Airways currently has nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet of aircraft, with 51 more on order. The airline currently operates 14 flights a week to Singapore from its Doha base, from which it flies to 134 leisure and business destinations worldwide.
