Dubai-based airlines, Emirates has announced that it will allow its passengers on board to make use of in-flight mobile phones on its A380 airline fleet. Passengers boarding the flights to Dubai would be able to make use of this new service.
Emirates is known as a tech savvy airline that is equipped with electronic gadgets that allow the passengers to make the most of their journey aboard.
Way back in 2006, it was announced that the airline would commence to let passengers use cell phones during their course of the flight, along with e-mail and SMS. The technology was inept so it could not be introduced due to the fact that cellular signals had to be operated through a satellite system.
This new service is accessible with normal mobile phones in combination with an in-flight Wi-Fi company called OnAir. Since the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prohibits the use of mobile phones on commercial flights in the US, passengers would not be able to use the service when the flights with Emirates are within 250 miles of the United States.
