Air Mauritius has announced to launch additional flights to China to facilitate the passengers flying to mainland China from island country of Mauritius.
The flag carrier of Mauritius has announced to operate a third weekly flight to Shanghai from 21st January, 2014 and a second weekly frequency to Beijing from 16th July 2014.
The stepping up of operations is part of airline operating model that aims at rebalancing growth to emerging markets.
Air Mauritius is continuously increasing flights to China since it started once weekly flights to Shanghai in 2011. The airline is now adding third weekly frequency to Shanghai. By mid 2014 the airline will be offering five weekly flights to mainland china. These flights are in addition to minimum two weekly flights to Hong Kong and three weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur from where passengers can get connectivity to mainland China.
In financial year 2014/15 the airline has planned to increase seat capacity by 57%.
During Financial Year 2013/14, the Air Mauritius provided more than 93,000 seats and in 2014/15, the carrier has planned to increase its seat capacity to 146,000.
