Virgin America Launch ‘Business Traveller Friendly’ Route

Virgin America celebrated the launch of its new service to San Jose International Airport, yesterday, the latest city in the airline’s network of destinations. The introduction of the new flights is a significant move for the airline as it increases competition on the route which connects Los Angeles and San Jose – an important service for business travellers.

Guests on the first Los Angeles – San Jose inaugural flight were greeted by a red carpet and Sir Richard Branson – found of the Virgin Group at Terminal A in San Jose International Airport. The Airbus A320 is the aircraft which will be used on the route; it is being referred as the #nerdbird.

The airline will offer four non-stop flights on the flights from Los Angeles International Airport, each day. The introduction of the new service will also mean that business travellers will have the ability to connect to an expansive network of destinations that Virgin America provides, via Los Angeles. This will include some crucial business destinations located on the East Coast of the U.S. including Philadelphia and Newark.

The flights between the two cities are considered to be Business traveller friendly. There are a plethora of amenities offered by the airline on-board each flight including Wi-Fi connectivity and power outlets for personal electronic devices, located next to each seat. 

Virgin America’s new fleet has been redesigned to bring even more luxury to the airline renowned for up-scale service; this has included improved cabins and new services that mean the airline is continuing to provide its passengers – particularly those in First and Business Class – with state-of-the-art technology and the latest products. 

Personal entertainment is also provided for each and every passenger on the airline’s new fleet of aircrafts; the cabins are all designed to include mood-lighting which adjusts throughout the flight to create ambience. Each guest has their own touch-screen television located in the seatback – the in-flight entertainment offers passengers live television, Google maps, a selection of music videos, a You Tube channel, 25 feature films, video games, a library of 4000 songs, a chat ability that allows passengers to communicate seat-to-seat and a menu which enables travellers to order cocktails and snacks, from their seat, on-demand.

The First Class cabin offers passengers custom leather seating which reclines to 165 degrees and includes lumbar support, adjustable headrests and massagers. There are a total of eight seats in First Class, and each has a pitch of 55 inches. First Class passengers are entitled to a selection of refreshments, complimentary meals, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, a dedicated check-in port in the airport, faster security screening and boarding.

Virgin America has been on the receiving end of much praise throughout the last few years; the airline is well-known for regularly updating its service, introducing the newest technologies to their in-flight services and entertainment systems and custom designed cabins which keep the passenger’s comfort and flight experience in mind. The airline has received the title of ‘Best Domestic Airline’ in America for Conde Nast Traveller’s Awards and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for the last five years.

The airline’s first domestic lounge opened up just five months ago, at Los Angeles Airport offering travellers a quiet and chic retreat to wait in before their flights depart. Guests are offered a selection of services keeping in line with the airline’s intention to reinvent the travel experience in the U.S. The Virgin America Loft intends to emulate the cabin experience when flying with the aircraft; the space provides amenities for passengers to take advantage of including a cocktail bar and quiet space which emulates the custom-designed cabins on-board each aircraft. Mood lighting, power sources for electronic devices and complimentary Wi-Fi are all included in the services available to travellers in the Virgin America Loft.
