TAP, the national carrier of Portugal has announced two new destinations in Brazil, Manaus and Belem, commencing in June 2014. The route is to be launched with three weekly frequencies on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and will operate the route London-Lisbon, Manaus-Belem-Lisbon-London. Manaus is the capital city of Amazonas and is one of the fastest growing regions in Brazil. Belem is the capital city of state of Para, which is the entrance gate to Amazon River. Both the cities are important eco-tourism destinations and Manus has also been named as one of the host cities of 2014 FIFA World Cup.
TAP now offers flights to 12 destinations in Brazil, 10 of which are 2014 FIFA World Cup. It currently offers flights to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador da Bahia, Fortaleza, Recife, Natal, BrasÃlia, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Campinas.
From October 2013 TAP Portugal has added Boa Vista to their Cape Verde routes with twice weekly direct services from Lisbon. TAP now offers 15 flights a week to Cape Verde Islands, with new flights to Boa Vista operating on Tuesday and Saturday. The archipelago of Cape Verde is made up of ten unique islands and TAP will be flying to four of them directly from Lisbon. The island of Sal get six flights a week, Santiago /Praia get five flights a week; Sao Vicente and Boa Vista get two flights a week.
