Southwest Airlines the largest low-cost domestic carrier of U.S. confirmed the launch of nonstop flights to Jamaica, Bahamas and Aruba starting from 1st July. In the words of Gary Kelly, president and CEO of Southwest Airlines, this is one of the largest initiatives in the history of Southwest Airlines.
The airline provides nonstop daily service to Aruba, Montego Bay, Jamaica from Hartsfield -Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Nonstop daily flights will also provided from Baltimore-Washington International Airport to Aruba, Nassau and Bahamas and twice daily to Montego Bay and Jamaica. Saturday nonstop flights to Aruba and Montego Bay, Jamaica will be provided from Orlando International Airport.
All these destinations are already served by AirTran Airways, a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest. By the end of 2014, Southwest will take over all AirTran international flights, 96 destinations in four countries. Dallas-based Southwest plans to add even more international routes in 2015 upon completion of the new five-gate terminal at Houston’s William P.Hobby Airport that can provide service to these destinations.
