Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the flag carriers of Pakistan, has launched direct flight to Jeddah from Multan.
The inaugural flights PK-739 carrying passengers took off from the Multan airport for Saudi Arabia on Friday.
The airline is offering two direct flights a week to Saudi Arabia. PIA will operate Multan-Jeddah flights on Friday and Multan-Madina flights on Saturday.
With the launch of the flights the longstanding demand of the residents of Multan has been fulfilled. The completion of new terminal of Multan airport would enable PIA to operate more international flights from the city.
The airline was facing shortage of planes that was disturbing the schedule but after taking some planes of lease the situation has improved.
PIA has also increased the frequency of flights to Toronto and Kuala Lumpur. Now the airline will be operating four flights a week to these destinations. The airline will also expand frequency on its some of the existing flights.
