Fly Jamaica Airways will begin non-stop flights to Georgetown, Guyana and non- stop flights from New York to Georgetown on 27th September. In June the Guyana Government announced that it had granted the Jamaica-based airline the green light to operate two routes out of Cheddi Jagan International Airport. The Guyanese Cabinet gave approval for the airline for flights to New York route from Guyana and flights to Toronto route from Georgetown. The inaugural flight will depart the Norman Manley International Airport today at 6:30 en route to Guyana, with return flight set for early Friday morning, connecting to New York flight to John F. Kennedy Airport.
In the words of Captain Lloyd Tai, chief operating officer, the non-stop flights between Kingston and Georgetown will provide a convenient gateway for the nationals from both the countries as well as tourists in the region to enjoy beautiful offerings of each country. The airline is trying to link Guyana to New York and Guyana to Jamaica. Now to reach Guyana one can get non-stop flights from Jamaica to Guyana. The airline will also provide convenient connections to other Caribbean and South American countries.
All these services will operate with Boeing 757-200ER aircraft with a seating configuration of 12 business and 186 economy seats. Non-stop services from Kingston to Toronto, Canada and Toronto to Georgetown, Guyana will commence on 8th October. Fly Jamaica Airways currently offers four weekly non-stop flights between Kingston and New York and vice versa.
