Each year in the month of May, people from all corners of the world descend on the town of Kelaât M’Gouna in southern Morocco to celebrate the harvest of Damask roses from the nearby Dadès and M'Goun valleys. Morocco is famous throughout the world for its superb rose oil and the rose festival a wonderfully perfumed event is worth attending. These delicate pinkish flowers are cultivated over here in abundance to produce rose oil, for perfumery and the rosewater which is beloved of Moroccan and North African culture and cuisine.
