Beijing Nanyuan Airport, which is the oldest airport in China, has opened a new terminal due to the fact that the country’s aviation industry has been constantly on the rise.
The new terminal will pave the right path for the passengers to be served more significantly as it will serve more flights to China.
The new 10,000 square meter terminal was officially opened for the passengers on Friday with a refurbished parking lot, runway and tarmac and it will be operated by China United Airlines and will be able to take 6 million passengers in the air annually which is more than its capacity.
The 102-year old airport is located 13 km south of Tiananmen Square in downtown Beijing. The airport used to be a military airfield, which had only one terminal. In the year gone by, the airport used to serve 2.8 million passengers.
The newly constructed terminal has alleviated the congestion in terminal buildings. China United Airlines operates services to more than 50 cities in China.
