The Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) in the recent past has established itself as one of the most influential business-to-business event on the global Airshow calendar. It is a biennial event which is in its third edition taking place from 16th to 18th January 2014. The show was organized by Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation (MoT) in corporation with the Royal Bahrain Air Force under the close supervision of HM Shaikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, king of Kingdom of Bahrain at Sakhir Base.
The Airshow ahs around 60 aircraft on static display in the trade and public areas including military aircrafts from the US, the UK, France, Turkey and Russia and commercial aircraft from Airbus, Boeing, Gulfstream, Embraer and Cessna. Major highlights of the show include opening by Royal Baharini Air Force formation display, aerobatic display by UAE’s A1 Fursan, the Saudi Hawks and Russian Knights. The parachuting display by Bahrain Royal Special Forces and Red Devil Team is among the star attractions of show.
More than 120 international companies grace the occasion among them Boeing, Bombardier, BAE Systems, Gulfstream, Rolls-Royce are prominent one. Delegations and representatives from Egypt, France, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Turkey, UAE, UK and the US are few among many dignitaries that grace this occasion. The number of aircrafts on display is over 100 for the first time this year.
In the words of HE Engineer Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive of Bahrain Economic Development Board, the unique, commercially-focused environment of Bahrain ensured a great success for the third addition of BIAS, with a significant number of returning as well as new participants. The Airshow provides an opportunity to showcase Bahrain’s unparalleled regional connectivity and making Bahrain a strategically attractive place to access. About 2,300 schools and university students from Kingdom will get free access to the public and trade areas of the event.
