AirAsia, a Malaysian low cost carrier is all set to launch flights to Kuala Lumpur from Madurai. The airline’s promoter, Tony Fernandes revealed on Twitter.
“Having met E M Sudarsan Nachiappan, minister of state, commerce and industry, Government of India, I can confirm AirAsia will start Kuala Lumpur-Madurai this year,” a tweet from Tony Fernandes said.
According to airline chief statement the airline is focussing on tier-II cities. In this process the airline has already started operations from Tiruchirapalli.
This newly launched airline is a joint venture between AirAsia, Tata Group and Telestra.
AirAsia headquartered in Kuala Lumpur has been named world’s best low cost airline.
With the commencement of flights to Kuala Lumpur from Madurai the leisure and business tourists from this region will have more options.
