The Doha-based carrier, Qatar Airways has expanded its African operations as it has launched daily flights to Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is the 18th gateway and the second destination in the African country of Tanzania.
The city of Kilimanjaro takes the airlines’ global network up to 118 destinations operating via the capital of Dar Es Salaam.
Flight QR546 touched down at Kilimanjaro International Airport and was given a water salute which was performed by the local fire service. The arrival of the flight was followed with the exotic traditional Tanzanian dancers who gave a warm welcome.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said, “We are extremely pleased to strengthen our presence in Africa by launching scheduled flights to the Tanzanian capital of Kilimanjaro, which is home to the well-known Mount Kilimanjaro.
The African expansion will acquire a new edge as it launches scheduled flights to Maputo in Mozambique on 31st October that would operate thrice a week from the airline’s hub via Johannesburg.
