Emirates, one of the leading airlines in the Middle East is all set to increase the number of flights to Colombo to meet increasing demand. The airline is adding three more flights per week to increase the capacity from 30th June 2013, said a press release issued by emirates.
With the addition of three more flights on Dubai-Colombo route the number of daily flight to Colombo will increase to four taking the number of weekly flights to Colombo to 31.
The newly added flights will be operational on Mondays, Thursdays.
The airline has also announced the schedule of flights. As per the release, Colombo bound flight EK 654 will depart Dubai at 0645 hrs and reach Colombo at 1245 hrs. On the return journey, EK 655 will depart Colombo at 1410 hrs to reach Dubai at 1655 hrs.
“This increase in capacity to Colombo demonstrates Emirates’ continuing commitment to the destination. Chandana de Silva, Emirates’ Area Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives has been quoted as saying.
“The demand for seats to Colombo is increasing, and these additional flights will enable more people to visit the city whether to visit friends and family, for leisure or on business” he added further.
The soon to be inducted flights will be served with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft and add 126 Business Class and 1,158 Economy Class seats each way a week on the route, besides adding 23 tonnes of additional capacity for cargo .
