Delta Air Lines is all set to go head-to-head against partner Alaska Airlines to add two more Seattle routes. Delta’s latest nonstop routes from Seattle will be to Portland, Oregon, and San Diego. The airline also plans to expand its seasonal Seattle-Anchorage schedule from 5th June. Portland is a secondary hub for Alaska while Anchorage and San Diego are focus cities. Seattle is not only Alaska Airlines’ home town, but also its biggest hub as well.
Delta will fly four daily round-trip flights to San Diego starting 2nd June and the same number to Portland beginning from 2nd September. Both routes will be operated by Delta Connection partner Sky West on Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jets. Just last month, Delta has announced flights to San Francisco and significant expansion of its existing schedules to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Delta has also unveiled a number of high profile destinations such as Seoul, Hong Kong and London.
In addition Delta will resume seasonal service from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to Seattle on 23rd May 2014, as well as add additional seasonal flight from the Alaskan city on 5th June 2014. The seasonal Anchorage flight will be operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. On this occasion, Delta is offering its SkyMiles members the opportunity to earn double miles and double Medallion Qualification Miles for Delta-marked, Delta-, or Delta Connection-operated flights between Seattle and Anchorage, Portland, Las Vegas, Los Angeles , San Diego and San Francisco. The offer applies for flights through 31st October 2014, and SkyMiles members must register for this opportunity by 31st December 2013.
