Arik Air, a Nigeria based airline has announced to extending two of its existing routes. As a part of this expansion, from March 10, 2014 the airline will add flights to Cotonou by operating its Lagos-Dakar flight via Cotonou. From the same date the airline will extend its daily Abuja-Accra service to Dakar.
The Lagos- Cotonou –Dakar route will be operated daily. The flights will depart the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7:15pm and land at Cotonou International Airport at 7:45pm. The flights will take off Cotonou at 8:30pm, arriving Dakar at 11pm. The return leg will depart Dakar at 11:45pm and arrive in Cotonou at 4:15am (next day). The flights will leave Cotonou at 5am arriving Lagos at 5:30am (local time).
The Abuja-Accra-Dakar service will also be operated daily. The flights will depart Abuja at 5pm and arrive in Kotoka International Airport, Accra at 5:50pm. The flights will leave Accra at 6:50pm arriving in at Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, Dakar at 10:05pm. On the return the flights will depart Dakar at 1:50am (next day) to arrive at Accra at 5:05am. The flights will depart Accra at 6am and arrive in Abuja at 8:50am (all local time).
With this expansion, Arik Air will be the only airline offering daily nonstop service to Dakar from Accra and Cotonou. The launch of these flights will be of great help for the business and leisure travellers flying on this route. The airline will serve these routes using the Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft with 10 seats in Business Class and 64 Economy class passengers.
The airline has plans to upgrade this route with Boeing 737-700 aircraft from the upcoming summer season.
