Air Indus Pvt., a private Pakistani airline has started flights to Islamabad. The airline is also contemplating to begin services to the Middle East next year. The start of flights is all set to increase competition for Pakistan International Airlines Corp, the flag carrier of Pakistan.
The airline has started operating flights between Karachi and Islamabad from July 28. The airline also seeks to fly to countries like United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Thailand after the completion of mandatory one year of operations in domestic circuits. In the beginning, the airline will offer two daily services each to Lahore and Islamabad and one to Quetta. From the next month the airline plans to reach seven destinations.
Air Indus will join Shaheen Air International Ltd. and Airblue Ltd. in competing for passengers in a market once ruled by Pakistan International Airlines popularly known as PIA, the flag carrier of Pakistan. The launch of new routes by Air Indus will provide better options to business and leisure travellers.
