One of the largest airlines in the world and the French flag carrier, Air France reports that it has adopted Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services (AAAS) to distribute its ancillary offering to travel agencies. As of the 5th of June, the travel agents will be able to offer Seat Plus for their customers with EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document) as the solution is available in France.
The benefit that passengers get with Seat Plus is that they can book a seat with more legroom in long distance flights.
“Air France wants to offer a reliable service to our customers regardless of how they book with us,” said Jean Wieviorka, Air France VP Corporate and Distribution.
44 airlines have enrolled for Amadeus Airline Ancillary Services to share out ancillaries through at least one of their sales mediums. There are 6 airlines that are selling ancillary services in key markets that include the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
The Seat Plus option can be booked by the travel agencies in France with the EMD Industry standard. The electronic messaging tool makes easy the distribution and fulfilment of ancillary services. The EMD is part of the e-services IATA initiative so that the use of paper can be eradicated and facilitates processes.
