If you enjoy heading into the hills, down to the beach or the culture and entertainment of the city then the UK as a destination for this year's holiday will provide something for everyone and as overseas holiday prices soar beyond people's budgets a staycation in the UK is becoming more popular by the year.
United Kingdom
With the UK being a diverse island boasting everything from history and architecture to theme parks and shopping experiences your break can easily be planned to suit. So where to go and where to visit will not be a hard decision. London is an obvious city choice for many tourists and with so much to do and see it will not fail to deliver a superb break for all the family.
London
If London is your choice of location a tip is to make yourself a check list of the favourite places to visit: The London Eye, Big Ben, The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and The Houses of Parliament are amongst the most noted of attractions but don't forget to include The London Dungeon, a cruise along the River Thames, a visit to the Cutty Sark, HMS Belfast or the Natural History Museum. The list in London is endless and with accommodation varying from B&B's to 5 star hotels there is something for everyone's budget. If however you don't want to stay in the city why not book a caravan or campsite outside London? There are plenty of commutable locations available, even the seaside town of Brighton, which allows easy travel into the city to view the sights.
Scotland
If the city break is not for you and you prefer the open space of the countryside then Scotland
with its stunning scenery of Lochs, Lowlands and Highlands offers a fantastic relaxing break. Famous for its mix of historic castles and stunning coastlines from the Highlands down to the Borders, Scotland offers everything from national parks, beaches, city culture, harbours and of course castles. Make sure to visit the tourism website 'Visit Scotland' to gather all the information to make the most of your trip.
Wales
Tranquil and beautiful are the valleys of Wales and they offer the perfect escape from everyday life. Holidaying in Wales will provide a hideaway making you feel like time has stopped. From the Llangollen steam railway and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct to Caernarfon Castle and Portmeirion village Wales is a beautiful holiday destination. If you fancy some 5 star hotel accommodation and retail therapy thrown into your Wales holiday then a great tip is to stay and shop in the historic city of Chester. Situated on the border of Wales means you can add this to either the start or end of your holiday.
Lake District
Mid country, the Lake District, Peak District and Yorkshire Dales are settings second to none which offer excellent motorway links from the rest of the country. Visit the Lakes in Windermere with Wordsworth's Cottage or the Beatrix Potter museum and amazing walks through scenery to take your breath away, whist walking in the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales and enjoying a pub lunch make for a perfect outdoor vacation.
Not forgetting the thrill seekers amongst us, why not take a theme park break at one of the UK's attractions. With several parks throughout the UK wherever you are staying a visit to at least one should be possible. However Alton Towers based in Cheshire offers a themed hotel on site for singles, couples or families alike and provides a welcome rest after a day of thrills on the white knuckle rides, alternatively Blackpool Pleasure Beach based on the golden mile seafront offers the private Big Blue Hotel to centre around all your seaside fun.
So whatever your staycation ideals are this summer make the most of it by planning a break around what you enjoy.
