Summer is here! And with school being out, the hot sun beating down on us, and it making us more spontaneous, we want to just hit the open road! Grab some close friends, point to a place on the map, and just go! The possibilities are as limitless as the miles you could drive. Don't worry about how gas is so expensive, and not to mention your car only plays cassette tapes and 8-tracks, and your seats on not that comfortable from your bottom after a couple hundred miles... Well, maybe you should just stay home this summer instead. OR - instead of taking the Family Truckster from "National Lampoon's Vacation", try renting a car for your road trip! You could get lots of benefits with the right car. Here is a quick list of the best cars to use on a road trip.
1. Land Rage Rover Supercharged
This will probably be the most comfortable car you could take on a road trip. Big, comfortable, electronically controlled seats that you and your friends can enjoy as you race across the map. Speaking of racing, with the supercharged model you can go 0 - 60 miles per hour in about 5.2 seconds. So if you feel like you'd be made fun of for driving an SUV, don't worry! Anyone that would laugh would be laughing in dust. The stereo system has a Portable Audio Interface so you could hook your iPod right into the car's stereo. And this baby has permanent four-wheel-drive so you could take it through some rough terrain with no problems!
2. Mercedes-Benz GL550
Now talk about classy - this baby is the classy SUV you could have on a road trip. This SUV can hold up to 7 of your friends and still have a decent amount of room for storage. For a long trip, this SUV is the one to go with. The car has such a sleek aerodynamic design along with a almost rugged look that you can't help but fall in love with. It's has an all-wheel-drive that will add to your confidence to drive through any season or storm. Another really cool thing about this SUV is that it has heated seats and steering wheel, and even an app for your smartphone to give you control of your car even when you're not there.
3. Nissan Leaf
And finally, the last car on my list is a smart car. This choice would be more for a loner road trip, or maybe just you and a friend. The Leaf gets around 106 miles per gallon, which is incredible! Most smart cars are tiny little toy cars, but the Leaf is a good happy medium between car and "toy". It is very spacious for a small car. But if you feel insecure driving a smart car, just remember you're only paying about 3.5 cents a mile. Worth it.
Renting a car can be much more efficient and cheaper. Not only can it save you tons on gas, there are also many other benefits to getting a car more suitable for a long drive. So if you live in Euless, Texas and want to drive to Earlton, Canada (God only knows why), turn on your Euless home security system, and pack your bags.
